Modeling Function-Valued Stochastic Processes, With Applications to Fertility Dynamics

چکیده
We introduce a simple and interpretable model for functional data analysis for situations where the observations at each location are functional rather than scalar. This new approach is based on a tensor product representation of the function-valued process and utilizes eigenfunctions of marginal kernels. The resulting marginal principal components and product principal components are shown to provide optimal representations in a welldefined sense. Given a sample of independent realizations of the underlying function-valued stochastic process, we propose straightforward fitting methods to obtain the components of this model and to establish asymptotic consistency and rates of convergence for the proposed estimates. The methods are illustrated by modeling the dynamics of annual fertility profile functions for 17 countries. This analysis demonstrates that the proposed approach leads to insightful interpretations of the model components and interesting conclusions.

A Statistical Study of two Diffusion Processes on Torus and Their Applications
Diffusion Processes such as Brownian motions and Ornstein-Uhlenbeck processes are the classes of stochastic processes that have been investigated by researchers in various disciplines including biological sciences. It is usually assumed that the outcomes of these processes are laid on the Euclidean spaces. However, some data in physical, chemical and biological phenomena indicate that they cann...
متن کاملA Suggested Approach for Stochastic Interval-Valued Linear Fractional Programming problem
In this paper, we considered a Stochastic Interval-Valued Linear Fractional Programming problem(SIVLFP). In this problem, the coefficients and scalars in the objective function are fractional-interval, and technological coefficients and the quantities on the right side of the constraints were random variables with the specific distribution. Here we changed a Stochastic Interval-Valued Fractiona...
متن کاملFuzzy completion time for alternative stochastic networks
In this paper a network comprising alternative branching nodes with probabilistic outcomes is considered. In other words, network nodes are probabilistic with exclusive-or receiver and exclusive-or emitter. First, an analytical approach is proposed to simplify the structure of network. Then, it is assumed that the duration of activities is positive trapezoidal fuzzy number (TFN). This paper com...
متن کاملStochastic differential inclusions of semimonotone type in Hilbert spaces
In this paper, we study the existence of generalized solutions for the infinite dimensional nonlinear stochastic differential inclusions $dx(t) in F(t,x(t))dt +G(t,x(t))dW_t$ in which the multifunction $F$ is semimonotone and hemicontinuous and the operator-valued multifunction $G$ satisfies a Lipschitz condition. We define the It^{o} stochastic integral of operator set-valued stochastic pr...
متن کاملStatistical aspects of birth–and–growth stochastic processes
The paper considers a particular family of set–valued stochastic processes modeling birth–and–growth processes. The proposed setting allows us to investigate the nucleation and the growth processes. A decomposition theorem is established to characterize the nucleation and the growth. As a consequence, different consistent set–valued estimators are studied for growth process. Moreover, the nucle...
